A fun-filled program for kids ages 3-12th grade. Awana is an international, non-denominational club whose goal is to reach boys and girls with the Gospel of Christ and train them to serve Him.
Cubbies--3:30 - 5:00 p.m. - Tuesdays Pre-K (3-4 yrs.) (September-April)
Sparks--3:30 - 5:00 p.m. - Tuesdays K-2nd grade (September-April)
Awana--6:15-7:15 p.m. - Thursdays 3rd-8th grade - (September-April)
Please note that we typically follow the University of Wyoming calendar.
The Cubbies (Pre-K 3-4yrs.) and Sparks (K-2nd grade) Clubs include singing, a Bible Story or devotional, a handbook time where they learn, understand and recite Bible verses, a snack time and a game time. The Cubbies also do a craft that goes along with the lesson for that week and have the opportunity to earn stickers for their participation and memory work. Sparks earn badges, jewels and prizes throughout the year for their participation and completion of sections in their handbooks.
The Awana clubs:
T&T (Truth and Training 3rd-6th grades), Trek (7th-8th grades), and Journey (9th-12th grades) include working in a handbook and game time for boys and girls, then a singing and devotional time all together. Through this devotion time, kids figure out what faith looks like on a daily basis and how to apply Scripture to everyday experiences.
In addition, we have themed nights throughout the year and an ice cream social once a year to encourage bringing guests. Throughout the year we have several store nights where the children can spend points they have earned for participating at club and for completing sections in their handbooks.
The curricula includes doing Bible studies, memorizing Bible verses, mentoring, prayer, singing, teaching sportsmanship in game time and is flexible for all abilities.
Awana balances fun with Bible training. This program encourages diligence, team work and learning how to rightly divide the Word of Truth. Awana does not compromise Biblical Truth, and is balanced with outreach, discipleship and fun.
Currently, the clubs have participants from many other churches in and around Laramie as well as some children that do not attend a church. All the children are encouraged to invite any of their friends, especially those who don’t yet know the Lord as their Savior.
While the bulk of the club costs are funded by the church, parents are asked to pay minimal dues and buy the children’s handbooks and uniforms. We do have scholarship monies available for those who cannot afford any or all of these expenses.
